Daisy Diddle was part of a litter born at the rescue, all her siblings have been fine but Daisy struggled to gain weight and was not as active. Volunteers noticed she didn't seem right and as she developed it was decided she needed to have 1-2-1 care. Volunteer Lucy took her in and has worked wonders getting her weight up and more.
Daisy has an issue which is still being investigated as her rear legs don't work very well, also now she has an issue when going to the toilet and this means she will lie down. Lucy therefore has to clean Daisy nearly Everytime she goes to the toilet. They have a great bond and we hope working with the vets we can support Daisy and understand her issue and ultimately ensure she has the best life moving forward. Due to the issues we will retain Daisy Diddle as a sponsor cat, remaining with us. If you would like to donate to her ongoing support and care that would be appreciated.
ZELDA was a stray cat found on the streets of Birmingham. She had sever polyps in her ears which has caused balance issues and affected her movement greatly.
The polyps have been treated and removed but they possibly will return at some stage so we are monitoring Zelda in case of this. Also they have left her unsteady on her feet and so Zelda is another long term resident with us and any ongoing costs for treatments are met by the rescue.
Fizz (aka Fizzy Wobble) is a lovely female cat but is with us long term. Although born as a normal kitten to a mom cat in our care, Fizz developed some neurological issues at around 10 weeks old. We have had our vets carry out many tests to try and determine the cause of this but they have been unable to identify the root cause.
Overall she is a very happy cat, with quite a sassy albeit wobbly little walk. She loves nothing better than to chase her fur brother Gino and she does the cutest little chirrup noise when being fussed.
Mavis a senior cat, we believe she is 20 yes old now, has come to us after having a home for about 10yrs her original owners moved on leaving her behind without a home.
Local residents continued to look out for Mavis, providing food, water and shelter but no one was able to give her a home. We were contacted and given her age took her in with a view to place her. She went to a temporary emergency Foster and has settled in.
In fact, so settled in that we have decided this beautiful older cat has had more than enough hardship and messing about so with agreement from the Foster home they will continue to care for her and she will remain as a rescue cat under the sponsor program.
If you can help towards her ongoing costs to help cover food, toys, litter, welfare etc please do.
CRACKER remained with the rescue for a long time - this was due to a severe skin condition that she had..
To treat this we had a daily routine that included Holistic treatment and a special diet. As you can see she also required a fortnightly bath and was clearly a water babe. She loved bath time but even better was being able to sit in the outside cat safe area catching some rays, often with her jumper on. A right little cutie with gorgeous colouring. A firm favourite with all the volunteers and sadly missed. We have removed the option to sponsor Cracker accordingly but still have some of the sponsor items for her if you want to purchase any please contact us via the contact us page.
**sadly Cracker passed otrb on 24.12.22 she will be much missed by us all
LOLA was rescued following a call out during lockdown about a cat looking like it was struggling when moving around and some kittens with her.
Volunteers attended to trap Lola and her 3 kittens, it soon became apparent with her movement that there was a sight issue for Lola, and once trapped we arranged vet checks for her and kittens. Vets established she had lost one eye and was all but blind in the other eye. Remarkable that she was living on the streets and trying to raise kittens.
Due to the sight issues Lola was placed into a long term foster home as it simply isn't fair for her to be moved around new enviroment's where she struggles due to the sight issues. She has settled in well and has formed a special bond with 1 of the other cats (Street) that the foster has of their own. Chirping away so Lola can find him, Street ensures she can navigate around the house.
As for the kittens, they were in a very poor state when trapped, unfortunately 2 of the kittens didn't survive. However the 3rd kitten, we named Larry, got stronger and Lola was able to raise him with our assistance.
After time once he was ready Larry was successfully re-homed - a great result.
** Lola went otrb Aug 24 and is very missed but at least she had some good years safe, warm and with her mate Street
